Realme X : the real mid-tier flagship killer?
Oppo's sub brand, Realme has launched their latest mid-tier flagship last week in China. The brand is emerging rapidly and it's really hard to believe that it stepped up just 12 months ago. The rapid product release and value for money device, Realme has suddenly made a good name in short period of time, especially in Indian sub-continent.
Realme just announced the "Realme X", their first pop-up selfie camera smartphone and from the initials both on device and on paper, it seems Realme is stepping the right steps.
With the fullscreen bezel-less display(notchless), a pop-up selfie camera, on-display fingerprint scanner and gradient finish which competes for other higher-tier flagships, this phone looks just like the lite version of OnePlus 7.

What do you get?
It has a 6.53-inch AMOLED display(2340 x 1080 pixels) with 19:5:19 aspect ration and a good 91.2% screen-to-body ratio. There's a little bezel and the bottom but it is justifiable because to make it truly bezel-less the sceen underneath has to be bent and it is quite expensive. As discussed earlier, the main attraction are in-display fingerprint sensor and that pop-up selfie camera.
The smartphone boasts 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The front-facing camera rocks a 1 6-megapixel Sony IMX471 camera.
As for now, the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 710 processor and the initial piece has a RAM of 4GB however another varient with 8 GB of RAM is expected to launch too. It has 128 GB of internal storage and unfortunately there's no facility of expandable storage. The phone also has 3765mAH battery which supports VOOC 3.0 Fast charging support.
When is it launching?
The phone was launched just a week earlier in China and is expected to launch in India in the mid June or earlier. While the exact date of launch in India is not specified, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed that the Indian variant will have different specs than that of the Chinese version. Also, he further specified that the Indian variant will have two more color flavors - Onion and Garlic - designed by Naoto Fukasawa.

Much details haven't been confirmed, but from the current perspective we can assume that the phone will have an upgraded Snapdragon 730 processor. It makes sense as Indian market has Redmi Note 7 Pro rocking the market and Realme has to address that market range.

The price of the smartphone is rumored to be around 16,999 to around 18,000 INR. Redmi is also supposed to release their new series of smartphone - the K series, so Realme has to make a decent price tag if they want their phone to succeed in Indian market.

So, is it a good buy?
The to-go competitor of the Realme X, especially in the Indian market is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro which has a price range of around 15890 INR. The phone comes with 4GB+64GB storage and 6.3 inch 1080x2340 display with waterdrop notch. However, Realme X has a upper hand here because of it's AMOLED display panel. The battery of the Realme X , on the other hand is slightly lower than the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Realme X posses a newer and faster CPU than the Note 7 Pro but the performace is still awesome on both the phones. Realme X is also a bit heavier considered to the Note 7 Pro.
Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme X |
Both the smartphones are great in their price range but Realme X here has a bit of win-win situation. Note 7 Pro on the other hand has already seen many customers and which of them are satisfied. The motorized part of the Realme X has to be noticed as having any motorized part is a fragile consideration.
Is it coming to Nepal?
Well, in this initial phase it's difficult to guess but we can probably make a speculation. The phone is rumored to launch in mid June in India which means it will arrive in Nepal in around couple of weeks after that. The price is rumored to be around NPR 29,000(as we expect it to be).
So, what do you guys think? Which, in your opinion is the best of these two smartphone?
