TikTok introduces "TikTok Stories" that will rival Instagram and Snapchat
TikTok, the wildly successful short-video network, has begun exploring an ephemeral Stories format to compete with Instagram.
TikTok Stories is a new tool that allows creators to publish short videos that automatically expire after 24 hours.
It works similarly to how stories operate on other social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat.
Matt Navarra, a social media expert, saw the new TikTok Stories feature and shared the news on Twitter.
The company then told The Verge that it has begun testing the feature.
Only a few people have access to it right now.
Nevertheless, TikTok Stories work just like any other platform's Stories format.
It lets users to post bite-sized material with numerous interactive components on TikTok simply swiping right on the home feed.
After a day, it is automatically erased.
Users can create and share Stories by tapping the newly added "Create" button on the left sidebar. They can also add captions, music, and text to their Stories to make them more fun and interactive.

Users can also check out the Stories of content providers by going to their profiles.
They can also react to and comment on Stories before they expire after 24 hours.
TikTok Stories, unlike WhatsApp or Instagram, allows users to share videos rather than static photographs.
We're constantly brainstorming new ways to add value to our community and improve the TikTok experience. We're currently exploring with methods to provide creators more formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community,” a spokesman told The Verge in a statement.
Since its launch on Snapchat in 2013, the Stories format has become one of the most popularly replicated features.
Following its launch, several firms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and even Twitter adopted the ephemeral format.
However, Twitter's Fleets Stories feature was recently decommissioned on August 3rd.
