Xiaomi unveils under-display selfie camera smartphone - Mi Mix 4

 

Xiaomi has released the Mi Mix 4 in China today, after announcing its plans to introduce the much-anticipated Mi Mix flagship earlier this month.

The phone has an under-display selfie camera, compatibility for 120W fast charging, and a slew of other high-end features.

So, before we go into the price and availability, let's go through the important specifications and features. 

 

DESIGN

To begin with, the Mi Mix 4 features a front-facing display with no bezels and a triple camera system on the rear.

The display seems to be a single sheet of glass from the front, with no punch-holes or waterdrop notch.

The back cameras are contained in a massive module that sits above a ceramic back panel. 

 DISPLAY AND CAMERA

Although the Mi Mix 4 lacks the Mi Mix Alpha's insane surround display, it does have a truly bezel-less design thanks to the under-display front camera.

The device features a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with 10-bit color, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision support for an immersive viewing experience.

On top of that, it has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.  

 As previously stated, the front of the phone now has a 20MP under-display camera for selfies.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is the first device to use such a front camera.

Xiaomi claims to have employed a proprietary micro-diamond technology to shrink pixel sizes while increasing pixel brightness.

Users may take sharper selfies with less distortion because to this technology.

A primary 1/1.33-inch 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HMX sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree FOV, and an 8MP periscope lens with support for 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom make up the triple camera arrangement on the rear.

OIS is available on both the primary and periscope cameras.  

INTERNALS AND BATTERY

On the inside, the Mi Mix 4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC, which includes an Adreno 660 GPU.

Up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage are available.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to expand the internal storage with a microSD card. 

A 4,500mAh battery is also included, with support for 120W fast charging via wired connection and 50W wireless fast charging.

Boost Mode and Default Mode are the two charging options available.  

When it comes to pricing, the Mi Mix 4 comes in four different configurations: 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB.
