How to activate NTC 4G service in Mobile

NTC have launched theirNT 4G service in Nepal. This is the first phase of 4G launch. Postpaid GSM Users from Pokhara and Kathmandu will be benefitted by this service but NTC is preparing to roll out for prepaid users in these cities and expanding to other cities very shortly. As for other users are concerned, 4G service will be made available very shortly.This is the first 4G service in Nepal. This service now is however only available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Let's see how to activate 4G service in NTC.

Who can enjoy NTC 4G service?

  • As NTC told, users must have a GSM postpaid SIM and you must be connected within Pokhara and Kathmandu.
  • Only recent NTC SIMs will be able to run 4G service. If your SIM doesn't support 4G service, you'll have to visit nearest NTC office and change a new SIM card.

What is a 4G network?

4G is the fourth generation of the network which aims to provide faster mobile broadband internet for connected devices. There are several significant improvements in transferring voice data from network to network. 4G Network is around 5 times faster than regular 3G Network. The user can get download speed up to 100 Mb per second. Previously, 3G Network provided a maximum download speed of only 42 Mbps.

What will be the tariff rate of NT 4G ?

Nepal Teleco will be providing old tariff rates for certain period of time. 4G subscribers can easily use the internet at the cost of 2G/3G. Postpaid users will get 4GB data as a promotional offer which will have validity for 4 days. Internet service will cost Rs 1 per MB.

How to Activate 4G service in your postpaid numbers?

Activating 4G service in NTC is not a big problem. You need to dial *444#. Keep in mind, Rs.50 will be deducted to your regular billing after activating this service in your number as the activation charge for 4g service.

How fast is NT 4G Network Service?

As for now, only two major cities will have access to 4G service. NTC postpaid and prepaid GSM users can get up to 32.4 Mbps download speed and 10Mbps max upload speed. The speed may be seen low as compared to other countries where 4G are operated. Other countries operate 4G at around 100 Mbps per second.

Note: iPhone users will not be able to use NT 4G service now. iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus will not be able to run the NTC 4G service. Nepal telecom has started the process for making this service available to Apple users. According to Nepal telecom, Apple users will have to wait until March 2017 after which 4G service will be available to iPhone users.
